Our safeguarding commitment

We are fully committed to the safety of all students in our care, and our safeguarding policies are designed to ensure that students are protected from harm. Our approach involves clear, open communication and a responsive process for addressing any concerns. All staff are trained to identify safeguarding issues, and we work closely with external services to ensure that any concerns are promptly addressed.

Reporting Safeguarding Concerns

We encourage students, staff, and parents to report any concerns they may have about safeguarding. Our process is simple and confidential, ensuring that concerns are handled with care and respect. Any safeguarding concern is taken seriously and investigated thoroughly to ensure the right support is provided.

If you have a concern, please reach out to our Designated Safeguarding Lead, or speak to any member of staff who will be able to support you in reporting it. Alternatively, if you do not feel you are able to speak to somebody face to face, please follow this link and complete the concern form (link to concern form - to be added).

Staff Training and Awareness

All of our staff members are trained in safeguarding and child protection. This includes regular training on recognising signs of abuse, neglect, and exploitation, as well as understanding mental health and wellbeing needs. Our staff are also trained to be trauma-informed, ensuring they are equipped to support students facing emotional and behavioural challenges.

Support for Students

We understand that students in alternative provision may face unique challenges, and we are committed to offering the support they need. Our safeguarding framework includes:

  • Emotional and Mental Health Support: We offer individual intervention (relate) sessions and group support to help students build emotional resilience and address emotional and mental health challenges.
  • Anti-Bullying: We have a zero-tolerance policy for bullying and work proactively to prevent bullying from occurring within our school community.
  • Online Safety: We ensure that students are educated on online safety and provide guidelines and resources to help them navigate digital environments securely.

Safeguarding for Vulnerable Groups

We believe in the power of collaboration and work closely with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for each student. Whether it's through regular meetings or involving local authorities, we ensure that all aspects of a student’s care are coordinated to provide comprehensive support.

Our Family Liaison Worker is available to provide dedicated support for families, offering guidance, resources, and a listening ear during challenging times. They act as a bridge between home, school, and external services, ensuring that families feel supported and connected to the resources they need. Whether it's helping with communication, accessing additional services, or providing advice on how to best support a child's needs, our Family Liaison Worker is here to ensure a collaborative approach to the student's success and well-being. Please feel free to reach out to them for any family-related concerns or support.

Personalized Support

We are dedicated to supporting students from all backgrounds, especially those who are more vulnerable. This includes students with special educational needs, mental health challenges, or those at risk of exploitation. We provide tailored interventions and work closely with other agencies to ensure these students are safeguarded and supported.

Child Protection and Prevent Duty

We follow strict child protection procedures to ensure that students are safe from abuse or neglect. Additionally, we take our prevent duty seriously and actively work to protect students from radicalisation and extremism. We aim to foster a diverse and inclusive environment where all students feel valued and respected.
