Our 'farm to fork' offer consists of two allotments in West Yorkshire (one with wheelchair access) and a 'live' cafe that is situated in Wakefield. Students in our care will have exposure to all aspects of the sustainable cycle we have developed.
Once our crops are harvested, eggs collected, students will use the ingredients to produce food to sell in the cafe to the public and provide community events to support vulnerable members of our community.
At InspirED we are centred around building community cohesion and equipping young people with the skills to navigate communities and challenges within. Building skills is what underpins all our interactions with young people.
Through our animal care, horticulture, hospitality and catering qualifications, students will learn the required skills in a practical and relatable way. Students will engage with a wide range of bespoke learning opportunities.
Tutors will plan bespoke and individual lessons to make sure they are accessible, achievable and most importantly enjoyable for all in our care. Tutors are experienced in their field and offer expertise and passion to help young people engage.
InspirED cafe will offer regular coffee mornings and other events throughout the year to support local vulnerable groups in our community to ensure the delicious crops grown are utilised in a positive manner. We are also open to the public on a daily basis.
InspirED cafe will also contribute to the numeracy, literacy and ICT skills of students in our care. They will be accredited and the skills will be developed in a number of ways. Marketing through persuasive writing, keeping the accounts up to date, producing flyers are just a few of the ways core academics will be built in to the learning experience
Through the coffee mornings, community events and serving the general public, students will be exposed to real life scenarios. This will hopefully allow them to build on skills required to navigate the world around them. Softer skills will be assessed through PDAM at all times so we continue to develop an understanding of all young people in our care.
