Students referred to InspirED for the step out programme will have the opportunity to complete the bronze award through a carefully designed curriculum that aims to challenge students across a range of vocational pathways whilst meeting all criteria set out in DofE. The skill section will be completed through opportunities to access joinery and art sessions that are delivered through a Project Based learning model, driven by an enterprise idea derived from each cohort. Students will have the opportunity to make pieces of furniture from pallet boards and sell to the community. All monies raised will be donated to our partner charities.
Our expedition and bushcraft program allows students to gain exposure to Yorkshire's natural beauty. Students will engage in a number of outdoor activities and gain practical skills in navigation, survival, and orienteering. They will also develop teamwork skills, resilience and organisation. They will engage in 12 sessions preparing for the final assessment at the end of the program.
Students will gain exposure to allotments across West Yorkshire where they will develop skills in Horticulture and support other users to complete physical tasks required when keeping land. Students will work alongside members of the community and support individuals who might not be able to carry out the tasks required. They will also cultivate, plant and maintain crops with all harvests being donated to vulnerable members of the community.
Accessing local facilities and accessing a choice of physical activity to complete over the term. Students would engage in learning around their chosen physical activity and set a plan for improvement. Results would be collated and monitored throughout the sessions. Progress would be reviewed regularly.
PDAM - In operation at all times and this work will underpin all our interactions with young people in our care. PDAM will allow InspirED ascertain a strong understanding of student capability and plan for areas of growth. Targets will be linked to SEND paperwork or designed to support through graduated response.
Learning Logs - Will capture the work from each day and any evidence against targets. Learning logs will also highlight any successes, challenges, safeguarding concerns etc. These will be shared weekly with referring schools.
The pathways outlined above are also accredited through AQA UAS. For learners under 14 years of age (Year 7 and 8) this will be the sole route for academic accreditation.
All our students will start the school day with a nurture breakfast. Following a well-being check in students will engage in a discussion based learning in topics relating to British Values and Moral and Ethics. The learning will be assessed through PDAM targets.
